There's a reason it's called "Michael's Wine Cellar." Michael Klauber himself, our legendary Co-Proprietor who has served as a wine judge and international wine merchant for 30 years, still has his hand - and trusted palate - in the wine buying process for our boutique wine store.
This summer, Michael directed our wine specialists to bring in "the grandfather of all rosé wine." Allow our team to introduce you to this fine rosé from one of the most famous estates for rosé in Provence, France.
Rose, Domaine Tempier, Bandol, FR, 2015

The presence of Mourvedre gives this wine its strong character, balance and complexity. An intense fruit and floral nose make this an attractive rosé.The palate is rounded and full with fruity aromas of peach and pomegranate, followed by delicate spice notes and a pleasant freshness created by acidic balance and complexity.
Domain Tempier Bandol Rose
Located in the heart of the Bandol terrior, Domaine Tempier was already in existence during the reign of Louis XV (1715-74). The house was built in 1834 and the estate gained recognition in 1885 when it won its first gold medal. The architect of this rebirth in the wake of the phylloxera epidemic that had devastated France's vineyards was Leonie Tempier, who replanted the vines on rootstocks and in 1880 had a barrel cellar and cement fermentation tanks built. The grapes used for this rosé come from selected parcels where the vines are on average 20 years old.
Wine Spectator (91 Points)
“Bright white cherry and watermelon rind notes are pure and racy, gaining a light savory hint through the finish and showing an echo of white pepper. Pure, with latent depth, this should go into reserve for fall and winter drinking. Drink now through 2017.”
