Broadbent Selections

Next Tuesday, September 15, the Michael's Wine Cellar team is thrilled to welcome a true wine industry legend to Sarasota. Please join us for a special wine tasting featuring the Broadbent Selections portfolio, hosted by the one and only Bartholomew Broadbent! Broadbent Selections Wine Tasting Tuesday, September 15, 2015 6-7:30 p.m. Admission is $25 per person which includes tastes of up to 20 wines Click here to register now for this special wine tasting. Space is limited. Here's a little insight into the Broadbent Selections Philosophy: Broadbent SelectionsWhen we look for wines to import, at Broadbent Selections Inc., we have a few absolutes. First and foremost, the wine must be the very best of its type. It’s not enough for a wine to please us; its quality and value must bowl us over. It’s been said that the difference between a good meal and a great meal is that, with the former, you finish the meal thinking, “The food was good”. With a great meal however, you think, “Life is good”. And that’s precisely what we we look for, and what we’re proud to represent; wines that gratify not just the palate, but the soul. Yet, we do more than represent wine. We also represent the people and passion behind those wines, which is why, since we were founded in 1996, our focus has always been on family-owned wineries-on places with personality and stories, and on wines that come from the heart. Quality and character: those are absolutes. We’re extremely proud of both the wines we represent at Broadbent Selections and the great people behind them.

Kosher Wine

Silver kiddush wine cup for passover - Kosher wineKosher wine is produced according to Judaism's religious law, specifically, Jewish dietary laws (kashrut). We are privileged to work with the Jewish community throughout the Sarasota/Tampa Bay region throughout the year, so it is our pleasure to offer several Kosher wines available for retail purchase from Michael’s Wine Cellar. Our wine and spirits shop is currently offering the following Kosher wines: Chardonnay "Kosher", Alfasi, Valle Del Maule, CL, 2012 $9.95 Tasting Notes: Dry, crisp, and well-balanced with hints of apple and pear. -Chile has a long viticultural history for a New World wine region dating to the 16th century, when Spanish conquistadors brought Vitis vinifera vines with them as they colonized the region. In the mid-19th century, French wine varieties such as Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot were introduced. Alfasi is produced by Chilean winemaker Héctor Saldivia. Héctor and his team have achieved several goals in the grape-producing and oenological areas. Their achievements range from obtaining over a thousand planted hectares and developing new wine production lines, to the introduction of new wine making techniques while consolidating the existing techniques. Alfasi wines are certified kosher.   Cabernet Sauvignon "Kosher", Recanati, Galilee, IL, 2013 $16.95 Tasting Notes: Bright ruby red in color with a bouquet of delicate smoky aromas with hints of spice. Medium-bodied, with flavors of blackberries, plums and herbs. A perfect companion for grilled meats, game, casseroles and robust vegetarian entrées. -Located in Israel’s Hefer Valley, the Recanati Winery is a showcase winemaking facility, equipped with the most innovative technology available today. Owned by Lenny Recanati, a native of Israel with ancestral roots stretching back to Italy, the winery is the fruit of Lenny’s life-long dream to produce truly world-class wines. Chief winemaker is Gil Shatsberg, a graduate of the U.C. Davis wine program. Formerly a winemaker at Israel’s Amphorae and Carmel wineries, Gil brings to Recanati proven expertise in his field, allied to a devotion to artistry and craftsmanship in winemaking. Recanati wines are certified kosher.   Merlot "Kosher", Alfasi, Valle Del Maule, CL, 2013 $9.95 Tasting Notes: Well-balanced, with plum and mild oak notes, and a velvety-smooth finish. -Chile has a long viticultural history for a New World wine region dating to the 16th century, when Spanish conquistadors brought Vitis vinifera vines with them as they colonized the region.
